Advancing American Energy Independence
Air Products is developing the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, which will advance our energy independence by creating clean energy at a plant constructed and operated along the Gulf Coast. This multibillion-dollar project is Air Products’ largest investment in the United States and will help Louisiana meet its long-term carbon-reduction goals while creating and supporting local jobs. Once operational, the Ascension Parish facility will be able to produce enough hydrogen to power 3 million cars daily. The clean energy complex will use a safe and proven technology called carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) to capture 95 percent of the carbon emissions during the production of hydrogen, and then permanently store it in a rock formation more than one mile below Lake Maurepas.
The clean energy complex positions Louisiana as a critical player in strengthening America’s energy independence and as a global leader in next-generation energy production by producing low-carbon hydrogen.
