Air Products Donates $160,000 to Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation for Litter Abatement and Beautification Efforts

Air Products has donated $160,000 through its Lake Maurepas Community Fund to the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation to support projects to reduce litter and beautify Tangipahoa parish.

“Keeping a community litter-free is a massive undertaking, but one that’s well worth the investment,” said Danna LeBlanc, Commercial Executive Director of Air Products’ Louisiana Clean Energy Complex. “This funding will help Tangipahoa leaders address ongoing litter challenges in the parish and ultimately will result in a cleaner environment for everyone who visits the Lake Maurepas area.”

"On behalf of the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation Board of Directors, we express our sincere gratitude to Air Products for their investment in ensuring a cleaner environment for our parish. Through the collaborative efforts of Osprey and our team with Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful, these resources will not only enhance Tangipahoa’s appeal to visitors, but also significantly improve the overall quality of life for all its residents,” said Ginger Cangelosi, Executive Director, Tangipahoa Economic Development. The $160,000 grant will specifically support several litter and recycling efforts through the Osprey Initiative.

“Our work started in Tangipahoa Parish over five years ago with a Litter Gitter in Ponchatoula Creek,” said Don Bates, Owner/President of Osprey Initiative.  “The local waters of Lake Maurepas have been a focus of our company since the beginning, and we appreciate Air Products’ support of our work in removing the litter from our local waterways.”

The projects include maintaining two “litter gitters” in the waterways of Tangipahoa parish, clean ups in Ponchatoula Creek, litter tactical sweeps along Hwy 51 Manchac Greenway, and the development of a litter education program for the Tangipahoa schools.

About Air Products Giving in Louisiana
Air Products supports the communities where it operates through community giving and employee volunteer efforts. In addition to grants through the overall corporate Air Products Foundation, in 2023, the company launched the Air Products Lake Maurepas Community Fund, which plans to contribute $1 million per year to community projects that meet its intended mission during the duration of the operation of the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, which is expected to be at least 25 years.

The Fund assists parishes bordering Lake Maurepas by supporting needed educational, ecological, safety, and recreational projects, with a focus on Livingston, St. John the Baptist, and Tangipahoa Parishes.

Looking forward, Air Products strives to continue its more than five-decade history of safe and responsible operations in Louisiana, both through its proposed Louisiana Clean Energy Complex currently under development and in future investments. About the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex
Air Products is developing the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, which will advance energy independence by creating clean energy at a blue hydrogen production plant. This project is Air Products’ largest investment in the United States and will help Louisiana meet its long-term carbon-reduction goals while creating and supporting local jobs.

The new facility will create 170 new permanent jobs with an average salary of $93,000 a year, and 2,000 jobs during construction. Currently, Air Products employs 330 people in Louisiana at 18 facilities across the state, with employees actively contributing to the communities where they live and work.
