Air Products has donated $160,000 through its Lake Maurepas Community Fund to the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation to support projects to reduce litter and beautify Tangipahoa parish.
“Keeping a community litter-free is a massive undertaking, but one that’s well worth the investment,” said Danna LeBlanc, Commercial Executive Director of Air Products’ Louisiana Clean Energy Complex. “This funding will help Tangipahoa leaders address ongoing litter challenges in the parish and ultimately will result in a cleaner environment for everyone who visits the Lake Maurepas area.”
"On behalf of the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation Board of Directors, we express our sincere gratitude to Air Products for their investment in ensuring a cleaner environment for our parish. Through the collaborative efforts of Osprey and our team with Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful, these resources will not only enhance Tangipahoa’s appeal to visitors, but also significantly improve the overall quality of life for all its residents,” said Ginger Cangelosi, Executive Director, Tangipahoa Economic Development. The $160,000 grant will specifically support several litter and recycling efforts through the Osprey Initiative.
“Our work started in Tangipahoa Parish over five years ago with a Litter Gitter in Ponchatoula Creek,” said Don Bates, Owner/President of Osprey Initiative. “The local waters of Lake Maurepas have been a focus of our company since the beginning, and we appreciate Air Products’ support of our work in removing the litter from our local waterways.”
The projects include maintaining two “litter gitters” in the waterways of Tangipahoa parish, clean ups in Ponchatoula Creek, litter tactical sweeps along Hwy 51 Manchac Greenway, and the development of a litter education program for the Tangipahoa schools.
